At KIPP, no student slips through the cracks. Our schools are small, nurturing communities where every child is known, valued, and supported. We invest in relationships and specialize in meeting each student where they are academically and supporting them to learn and thrive.
Why KIPP?
Schools That Put Students First
Your child deserves a joyful, academically excellent education.
KIPP schools are best-in-class, college-prep public schools in neighborhoods that deserve high-quality options.
Why Families Choose KIPP
KIPP’s model puts students first. Most of our students will be the first in their families to attend and graduate from college, and we are proud to provide an excellent, college-prep public education in the communities where they live.
Our schools have a proven track record of closing the opportunity gap.
- In our elementary schools, kindergarteners learn to read at rates far surpassing the national average.
- Our students not only outperform similar students, but beat the California state average in both English and Math.
- Our high schools are among the best in the nation, consistently ranked in the top 10% by U.S. News & World Report.
- An independent study found that KIPP Northern California students gain the equivalent of about 80 extra days of learning in math and 70 extra days in reading in a single school year compared to their peers in traditional public schools.
KIPP teachers receive cutting-edge professional development and intensive coaching to help them stay and thrive at KIPP. Every teacher and classroom is also equipped with the best research-based curriculum and instructional materials.
KIPP offers a TK-12 continuum, partnering with students and families through elementary, middle, and high school. This long-term commitment results in outsized results. Students do better in school the longer they attend KIPP, and they do best when they stay all the way through graduation from KIPP high schools.
KIPP offers a best-in-class college and career counseling program in our high schools and free post-secondary support for our alumni through our KIPP Forward program. Our alumni are nearly 4X as likely to earn a bachelor’s degree as their peers, and are thriving in diverse and impactful careers, including engineering, teaching, law, emergency services, finance, medicine, computer programming, music, and public health.
Your Child’s Journey, From TK Through College
Choosing KIPP means choosing a community that stays with your family every step of the way. From strong foundations in early elementary through middle school and college-prep high school, KIPP provides a seamless and personalized path to college, career, and beyond for all students.
TK & Kindergarten
Elementary School Grades TK-4
We know learning to read sets the foundation for life. By the end of elementary school, our goal is for all KIPP students to be reading at or above grade level—building the critical skills they need for long-term academic success. Founded on community, care, and a culture centered on a love for learning, our elementary schools nurture a positive relationship with school for every student and every family, from the very start.
Middle School Grades 5-8
High School Grades 9-12

What KIPP Offers
Our schools foster a culture of academic excellence and intellectual curiosity through rigorous coursework and individualized instruction that meets the learning needs of every student. A KIPP education, paired with best-in-class college and career counseling, helps students develop the skills needed to succeed in college and life.
100:1
In California, the average college counselor to student ratio is nearly 500:1. At KIPP, it’s 100:1.
KIPP offers a fun and enriching school experience that taps into and develops students’ skills, passions, and leadership.
Our students participate in a wide range of extracurriculars and activities, including competitive athletics, student government, robotics, debate, arts, music, international travel, cultural affinity groups, field trips, and service-based clubs. Many of these opportunities are student-founded and student-led, giving young people meaningful opportunities to take initiative and shape their school communities.
Explore Our Schools
KIPP provides a positive and inclusive learning environment where all students are known, respected, and empowered. We welcome and affirm all students’ backgrounds and identities, and celebrate the richness of a diverse school community.
We also recognize the unique learning needs of each student and offer special education services at all KIPP schools. Our special education program enables students with special needs to learn, grow, and fully participate in their school community.
More About Special Education
Decades of research supports what we know firsthand—joyful and positive school culture has a direct impact on a student’s academic success, mental health, and overall well-being. At KIPP, we are proud to offer wrap-around support for students and families, including mental health programs that take into account a child’s identity, culture, and life experiences. When students experience challenges impacting their ability to thrive in school, our team works with families for a collaborative approach to ensure all students attend, belong, and grow.
Our schools also partner with community organizations to connect families in need with key services, including food, housing, medical, and legal support. Our partners include Housing Authority of San Joaquin, Vision to Learn, YMCA, College Track, Bayview Hunters’ Point Clinic, among many others.
