Dr. Erica Kelley

Principal

Erica was born in Mobile, Alabama and has lived and worked around the southeast, most recently in Chattanooga, TN, until transitioning to the Bay Area to work with KIPP. She joined KIPP in 2022, where she served as an Assistant Principal at a KIPP high school in San José until accepting the School Leader role at KIPP Esperanza. Throughout her career in education, she has served as a residency coach, instructional coach, curriculum developer, and social studies teacher. Each of these experiences strengthened her belief in the brilliance, creativity, and limitless potential of students. She believes every child possesses unique genius, and it is the responsibility of educators to nurture that genius and create opportunities for students to lead, innovate, and dream boldly.

As School Leader, she is excited to continue the strong forward momentum Esperanza is experiencing academically by centering student voice, engaging families and community partners. She is committed to ensuring Esperanza students are prepared not only for success in college and career, but also to lead and thrive in an ever-evolving world.
