Liz Coughenour is humbled to serve in the role of School Leader at KECP for a ninth year! After attending Northwestern University, Liz was a TFA ‘06 corps member in Washington, DC, where she taught first grade for two years at Friendship Public Charter School. Liz has worked for KIPP since 2008 when she joined KIPP DC: LEAP Academy as a founding Kindergarten teacher. In the years following Liz served as an Assistant Principal within KIPP DC, as well as managed two different leadership development programs for KIPP at the national KIPP Foundation.
After moving to San Francisco in August 2014, Liz knew she had to work in a school again and was honored to be a part of the founding team at KIPP Excelencia Community Prep. Over the past ten years, Liz has fallen in love with the incredible community in Redwood City and is now even more passionate about building the school our parents and our students deserve and have fought for. Liz is particularly passionate about rigorous math instruction that is both conceptually based and inspires kids to think openly. In her free time, Liz loves to explore the natural beauty of the Bay Area, travel, and camp with her husband Evan, her son Christian, and her daughter Gabriela.
