As you may already be aware, many of our Bay Area counties are experiencing active wildfires. The safety and health of our KIPP students, families and staff are paramount and we are reaching out to ensure you have critical information during this time.
Air Quality
The wildfires have resulted in very poor air quality throughout the Bay Area. This can be unhealthy for the general population and, in particular, individuals with underlying health conditions. Please take precautions and limit time spent outdoors. Visit AirNow to view up-to-date air quality levels in your area.
Evacuation Orders
Evacuation orders are in place for certain areas in counties at high risk due to wildfire activity. This currently includes areas in Alameda, Santa Clara and San Mateo counties. To learn more about evacuation orders in place, as well as available resources in your county, please visit your respective county’s website or emergency hotline.
- Alameda: (510) 522-2423
- San Francisco: (415) 553-0123
- Santa Clara: (408) 808-7778
- San Mateo: (831) 335-6717
School
If you are impacted by the wildfires, evacuations, or any emergencies related to the fires, please prioritize your family’s safety and health first. When it is safe, contact your school directly to notify them if your student will be unable to participate in Distance Learning due to the fires. All absences related to the wildfires will be excused.
This message is intended to provide you with resources and county based information. Please continue to visit the county websites linked above for up-to-date news.
