We prioritize and invest in training and coaching that supports educators to stay and thrive in our schools.
We offer an innovative, intensive one-year residency program that provides aspiring teachers with a supportive introduction to the teaching profession. The program provides hands-on training, mentorship, and robust coursework. At the conclusion of the program, residents earn their master’s degree in education (from Alder Graduate School of Education) and their preliminary teaching credential, and are eligible for job placement at a KIPP NorCal school.

Our Instructional Leadership Academy—designed to support instructional coaches—and Foundations of Leadership Academy—designed to support people managers—are professional development cohorts to support KIPP NorCal educators as they grow into content specialists and assistant principals. The yearlong programs involve group learning, hand-on training, and regular coaching and feedback
Outstanding schools are built, lead, and sustained by empowered leaders. KIPP NorCal launched the Principal in Residence program to serve as an incubator for future principals, equipping aspiring school leaders with the skills and experiences necessary to thrive and lead high-performing schools.
During the one- to two-year program, Principal Residents develop their skills and competencies through mentorship, coaching, and hands-on experience. Since the program’s founding, six Principal Residents have gone on to become KIPP NorCal School Leaders! One important goal of the program is to develop people from within our organization who represent our students’ backgrounds and experiences.

Our tenure-based salary scale is a “step and ladder” approach, where we pay on a step scale (total years of teaching experience) and on a ladder scale (for years of teaching with KIPP Northern California).
We cover 100% of the cost for employee’s medical, dental, and vision plans and 50% towards family and dependent coverage.
