Why Choose KIPP?

Choose an excellent, joyful education for your student!

Why families choose KIPP

Together with families and communities, KIPP Public Schools Northern California creates joyful, academically excellent schools that prepare students with the skills and confidence to pursue the paths they choose—college, career and beyond—so they can lead fulfilling lives and create a more just world.

At KIPP, we believe in the power of education to change lives, which is why we offer KIPP Forward, our comprehensive college and career counseling program. From the moment students join a KIPP school, they receive individualized guidance to help them navigate their academic journey and achieve their post-secondary goals. KIPP Forward continues to support students even after they graduate, ensuring they have the resources and mentorship they need to succeed in college, pursue meaningful careers, and become leaders in their communities.

Choosing the right school for your student is one of the most important decisions you’ll make. At KIPP Public Schools Northern California, we provide a world-class education that prepares students for success in college and beyond.

At KIPP Northern California, our elementary schools lay the groundwork for a lifetime of academic and personal success. In our kindergarten through 4th grade classrooms, we create vibrant, child-friendly environments that spark curiosity and joy in learning. This nurturing atmosphere is paired with robust support systems, including mental health counselors accessible to all students, ensuring that every child feels known, respected, and empowered.

Our commitment to academic excellence is evident from the start—last school year, KIPP kindergarteners made remarkable progress in reading, with over 80% achieving grade-level proficiency, far surpassing the national average. With an additional 70 days of learning in reading and 80 days in math compared to non-KIPP schools, our students gain a solid foundation in literacy and math, setting them on a path to success in middle and high school.

Middle school at KIPP Northern California is where students begin to see the broader world and their place within it. We emphasize both academic growth and character development, helping students cultivate the resilience and leadership skills necessary for future success. In these crucial years, KIPP students are encouraged to step out of their comfort zones through student-led discussions, extracurricular activities, and clubs, all designed to foster a sense of belonging and purpose.

Our middle schoolers benefit from an environment that is not only academically rigorous but also supportive, with a racially diverse instructional team that reflects and affirms the identities of our students. The additional days of learning in core subjects give KIPP students an academic edge, and research from Mathematica shows that those who attend KIPP for both middle and high school are nearly twice as likely to graduate from college.
